‘This year’s Showcase of Services for Older People will be held on Thursday 22nd September at Kidderminster Town Hall from 9.30am until 1.30pm and entry is free.

There will be a range of organisations attending the event, all of whom work or deliver services to older people. They will have representatives providing information and advice at the event, and will cover a wide range of topics such as information on leading a healthy lifestyle, local leisure activities that are available, staying safe in the home and the community and money matters.

Older people and their relatives or carers can go along and ask questions or find out more from organisations like Wyre Forest District Council, Act on Energy, Health Watch Worcestershire, plus many more local health and wellbeing service providers.

Complimentary refreshments will be served throughout the day and there is also a free prize draw to enter.

This year we will be working very closely with Age UK Bromsgrove, Redditch and Wyre Forest to provide electric blanket testing. Individuals who would like their electric blanket tested can book an appointment and get their blanket tested whilst at the event. In addition, we also have a reminiscence pod available this year for people to come along and view, this will be set up with furniture and memorabilia from the 1960s, no doubt bringing lots of good memories back for those that come along.

Councillor Sally Chambers, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Health, Well-being and Housing said:

“There is a wide range of organisations coming together under one roof to offer help and advice to older people.  It’s a great opportunity to access all their services in one place and find out more about what’s on offer.  There’s lots going on in the area for older people and the event is free, so please call in.”
