A former district councillor looks set to become an Honorary Alderman of the District.
Pauline Hayward has been nominated for the title by Councillor Marcus Hart and Councillor Helen Dyke.
Mrs Hayward served as a member of Wyre Forest District Council for 33 years before retiring in May this year. She represented the Blakedown ward from 1982 – 2004 and then the Blakedown and Chaddesley Ward from 2004 – 2015. At the time of her retirement, Councillor Hayward’s 33 years as a member of the authority represented the second longest continuous service. She was Chairman of the Council in 2003/04 and held a number of other important roles within the Council and she still remains involved in local government, as a member of Churchill and Blakedown Parish Council.
The nomination will be considered at the Cabinet meeting on Tuesday 14 July 2015.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of the Council said:
“We have put forward Pauline for the title as we would like to recognise her outstanding contribution to Wyre Forest District Council and the local community over many years. She is highly respected by Councillors from all political parties and we feel this honour would be thoroughly deserved.”
Councillor Helen Dyke added:
“Pauline has invested her time for many years in working to support the community and we feel it is entirely appropriate that she is recognised in this way.”
The Cabinet meeting gets underway at 6pm and will be webcast. Visit www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk to watch the meeting. If Cabinet agrees to support the nomination, it will be considered at an extraordinary meeting of the Council.
