Wyre Forest residents are being urged not to leave it until the last minute to ensure their name is on the list of voters for the elections which will be held on Thursday 7 May 2015.
There will be a Parliamentary election as well as elections for the District Council, Stourport-on-Severn Town Council and some parish councils. This year Wyre Forest District Council is holding a whole Council election. This is because there has been a Local Government Boundary Commission Review and the number of wards and Councillors is being reduced. There will be 12 wards and 33 Councillors.
People in Kidderminster, who are registered to vote, will also be able to take part in a Local Advisory Poll on Thursday 7 May 2015. They will be asked to vote on, ‘Should Kidderminster have a Town Council?’
The deadline for registering is midnight on Monday 20 April 2015. It is quick and easy to do online. Anyone without access to the internet can get a paper copy of the registration form from the Worcestershire Hub at the Town Hall in Kidderminster.
Anyone can request a postal vote, which means they can cast their vote by post instead of visiting a polling station on the day itself. Asking for a postal vote is a quick process and you only need to do it once. The deadline for applying for a postal vote is 5pm Tuesday 21 April. A postal vote application form can be downloaded from our website. It can also be requested by email or by phone on 01562 732928.
Ian Miller, (Acting) Returning Officer for Wyre Forest, said:
“You can’t vote unless you’re registered. Anyone who will be 18 or over on Thursday 7 May and has not yet registered to vote should do so as soon as possible if they want to have their say on issues that affect their lives. It only takes a few minutes to complete the form online.”
