Bewdley Town Council has submitted an application to Wyre Forest District Council to designate the Parish as a Neighbourhood Area.
This application must be publicised by the District Council to give people the opportunity to comment on the proposed neighbourhood area. All comments on the area must be received no later than 5pm on Monday 18 May 2015.
Neighbourhood Planning is an innovative part of the Government's Localism Agenda and will help to ensure that local communities have a major say in shaping development in their area.
Through progressing a Neighbourhood Plan in partnership with the District Council, Bewdley residents will be able to determine where development such as housing and community facilities should go. The Town Council are seeking to designate the whole Parish as a neighbourhood area to be covered by a single Neighbourhood Plan.
The Town Council is keen to progress a Neighbourhood Plan for Bewdley to guide the future development of the Parish.
The application to become a neighbourhood area is the first stage in the process of developing a Neighbourhood Plan. As it develops, the Neighbourhood Plan will need to undergo extensive community consultation with the local Parish.
This will include a local referendum to gauge support before the plan is finally adopted. Once adopted the Plan will form part of the statutory development plan for the area and will be a material consideration in the planning process.
All comments on the neighbourhood area application must be received by the District Council no later than 5pm on Monday 18 May 2015.
