Wyre Forest District Council has a new Chairman for 2014-15. Conservative Councillor Stephen Williams was elected to the post during the annual Council meeting on Wednesday 18 June.

Councillor Williams, who represents Blakedown and Chaddesley ward, was first elected to the authority in 1999. This is his third term as Chairman of the Council. He was previously Chairman in 2005-2006 and 2008-2009. He has also chaired the Council’s Planning Committee for eight of the last ten years.

Councillor Williams takes over from outgoing chairman Liberal Councillor Fran Oborski. His consort will be his wife Mrs Christine Williams. His chosen charities are Help for Heroes and Kidderminster Museum of Carpet.

The Chairman said:

“I thank you for this great honour. I will strive to be apolitical and I pledge to treat all Officers and Councillors from all parties with respect.”
