A special flag flying ceremony to support Britain’s National Armed Forces Day has been arranged by Wyre Forest District Council. The Council is urging members of public to come and show their support.
The Armed Forces Flag Flying Ceremony will take place outside the front of Bewdley Museum, Load Street, Bewdley on Monday 23rd June.

The event will start at 10.00am when guests and members of public are asked to arrive at the front of the museum. Standard Bearers and members of associations will be lead from the QE11 gardens at the back of Bewdley Museum through the courtyard out to the front of the museum where they will line up ready for proceedings. At 10.15am guests will be formally welcomed by Wyre Forest District Council and at 10.20am prayers will be led by Reverend Chris Allen. The flag will be raised by the chairman of Wyre Forest District Council at 10.30am to honour the British Armed Forces, past, present and future.

After the raising of the flag, St Anne’s Primary school has kindly offered to perform a few songs. Among those attending the event are members of the Royal British Legion within Wyre Forest, the RAF Association, the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Association, the Royal Naval Association and many more.

Councillor Marcus Hart, Leader of the Council said:

"The Armed Forces Flag Flying Ceremony is an annual opportunity for everyone to show their support for the men and women who make up the Armed Forces community, from currently serving troops to service families and from veterans to cadets. We urge Wyre Forest residents to come to the flag flying ceremony outside Bewdley Museum, and if appropriate to wear their full military regalia, berets, blazers or uniform to mark the occasion.”

Wyre Forest District Council is one of hundreds of councils across the country taking part in a week of official celebrations in honour of our Armed Forces. The national centrepiece of the celebrations is on 28th June in Stirling. For more information visit the Armed Forces Day website.
