Music-lovers are in for a summer of lazy Sunday afternoons thanks to Wyre Forest District Council’s annual programme of FREE outdoor concerts.

Three of the district’s flagship parks will host live Sunday afternoon concerts over the summer.

The concerts are free and open to everyone – come for the whole afternoon or pop down, in between the weekend chores. Bring a picnic and your own comfy chair to make the most of the live entertainment.

The series will get under way this coming Sunday 1 July with a concert featuring The Swinging Bass Band  at The Bandstand, Stourport Riverside, Stourport-on-Severn.

Folk band Nothing to Prove will take to the Stourport stage on Sunday 8 July and  Stourport Brass Band on Sunday 15 July. All Stourport concerts will take place from 2.30pm to 4.30pm.

A series of concerts at Brinton Park in Kidderminster will get under way on Sunday 15 July with rhythm and blues band, Chicago Bytes and every following Sunday until (and including) Sunday 5 August, between 2.30pm and 4.30pm. There will also be concerts on Sunday 19 and 26 August. Full details of the Kidderminster line-up are available here.

Bewdley’s Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Gardens will host two free Sunday afternoon concerts (between 2pm and 4pm) on Sunday 5 and Sunday 12 August.

It will be the turn of vocal quartet Berkeley Square to entertain audiences on Sunday 5 August and folk band Kim Lowings and The Greenwood on Sunday 12 August.

Councillor Juliet Smith, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for Culture, Leisure and Community Protection said:

“Our annual outdoor concerts are always a big hit with audiences. They cover a huge variety of music genres and are entirely free to enjoy. They provide a great opportunity for friends to meet up and enjoy live music in the wonderful surroundings of our three most popular parks.”
