Voters in Wolverley and Cookley will go to the polls this Thursday (12 July) to vote in a local advisory poll.

They are getting the chance to have their say on whether they think each village should have its own parish council.

Voting will take place between 8am and 8pm on Thursday 12 July. The polling stations will be at Cookley Village Hall in Lea Lane, and Wolverley Memorial Hall in Shatterford Lane.

Anyone who has a postal vote is being urged to make sure they post it without delay. Completed postal voting packs can also be taken to the polling stations on Thursday 12 July during voting hours.

Ian Miller, Counting Officer said:

“We want to make sure that the poll reflects the views of local people so we are encouraging people to use their vote on Thursday.  The polling stations are the same ones we having been using for elections for a number of years but the polling hours are different.  People voting in person need to do so between 8am and 8pm. So far we’ve had 61% of postal votes returned. Postal voters need to make sure they post their ballot paper as soon as possible to make sure it reaches us by Thursday. They can also be taken to a polling station on Thursday 12 July.”

The Local Advisory Poll is being organised by Wyre Forest District Council as part of a Community Governance Review. It is taking place after Wolverley and Cookley Parish Council presented a petition to the District Council requesting that the parish be dissolved and two new parishes be created.
