The Council's new HQ
Work is progressing well on the Council’s new Headquarters at
the Finep
oint site at the
junction of Walter Nash Road West with Stourport Road, midway
between Stourport-on-Severn and Kidderminster. Local firm
Thomas Vale Construction plc was awarded the contract in April 2011
and work got underway in June. You can follow the progress of the
build by visiting the New HQ Photo Gallery.
When it is occupied, it is estimated the
new HQ will save the Council more than £500,000 a year in revenue
expenditure. This is money that can be spent on day-to-day services
provided by the council.
Working with schools

Many of the local
schools have already been involved with the Council’s new HQ.
They were invited to design art work for the hoardings which
surround the building site. Thomas Vale has also been into
schools to give safety briefings about construction sites and the
dangers they pose.
Eco-friendly
The new HQ will also be eco-friendly, and help reduce carbon
emissions for the Council’s buildings by eighty five per
cent. Schools will be able to take part in eco workshops to
see how the Council and Thomas Vale are including the technologies
in the building to enable this, such as a ground source heat pump
and a green roof.
Frequently Asked Questions
We have compiled a list of
frequently asked questions about the
project. It addresses topics such as why the site between
Kidderminster and Stourport was chosen and how long it will take to
‘payback’ the cost of building it.
If you have any questions on the new HQ, please send them to the
communications
team and we’ll come back to you.
