The Government’s National Bus Concession Scheme is on offer
to anyone of pensionable age and eligible disabled people.
This entitles pass holders to travel for free on off-peak local bus
services anywhere in England.
As an enhancement to the statutory concession, Wyre Forest
District Council offer a companion pass to disabled people who
require to have a companion travel with them. Please note – a
disabled pass holder who is entitled to have a companion travel
with them can travel off peak on all local bus journeys starting in
Worcestershire. For journeys starting
outside Worcestershire the national scheme entitles pass
holders only to travel on off-peak journeys and
no companions.
What is off-peak travel?
Off peak hours are 9.30 a.m. to 11.00 p.m.
Monday to Friday and all day weekends and bank holidays.
Can visitors from other areas travel at anytime
when in Worcestershire?
No. Concessions with additional benefits
to the National scheme are only available to residents of
Worcestershire.

Similarly if you visit someone in an area which offers train travel
you will not be able to travel free and in London you will not be
able to use the underground for free.
Why do my friends elsewhere have different entitlements?
All local authorities responsible for
administering the scheme are allowed to offer additional
benefits.
What is a registered bus service?
Registered local bus services are those buses
which are open to the public, are registered with the traffic
commissioner and therefore have a timetable. Buses registered
as school services only and (most) National Express services are
not registered local bus services. If you are not sure if a
bus service in your area is a registered local bus service please
contact Traveline on 0870 608 2608 or
visit the Traveline website.
What if I lose my pass?
You can obtain a replacement pass by completing another
application form. In any one financial year, an administrative
charge of £5 will be made for the first replacement pass but
thereafter there will be an administrative charge of £10 for each
subsequent pass.
