Refuse Service

We will
  • Provide employees who are friendly, properly trained, and courteous at all times.
  • Provide a reliable waste service offering local people a regular same day collection service.
  • Provide our residents with a suitable wheeled bin container, which will be collected at the curtilage and returned after it has been emptied.
  • Supply all new residents with a wheeled bin or a replacement bin for existing customers within five working days of notification.
  • Provide support systems to assist the more vulnerable members of the community, such as the elderly or disabled.
  • Integrate refuse collection into the wider field of waste management issues, such as recycling, waste minimisation, sustainability, achieving results through effective education and resource management.
  • Provide an effective collection service for Bulky Household Waste.
  • Offer a Commercial Waste Collection Service for the local business community.
How you can help
  • Please do not overfill your wheelie bin. Overloaded bins will not be collected.
  • Please ensure bin lids are closed at all times and waste is not stacked higher than the lid level. Bins in this condition will not be serviced.
  • Non domestic waste will not be collected e.g. bricks, soil etc.
  • Please do not leave any side waste. This will not be collected.
  • We will only empty one bin per property.
  • Replacement bins will only be provided free of charge under set conditions.
  • Do not overfill your bin with garden waste. Use the local Civic Amenity sites or compost the waste as this is more sustainable and helps the environment.
  • On the morning of your collection day, please wheel your bin to the part of your property nearest to the street, where the collection vehicle normally comes. This should not actually be the pavement unless this is unavoidable.
  • If you move house please leave the bin for the next resident.
  • Think about what you are putting into the bin. Can it be recycled? Please recycle everything that you can, every little bit helps.
  • The service will operate as normal on Bank Holidays with the exception of the Christmas/New Year holiday period.

  • Provide our residents with suitable box containers, which will be collected at the curtilage and returned after they have been emptied.
  • Supply all new residents with suitable recycling boxes, or replacement boxes within five working days of notification.
  • Black box for newspaper/textiles/light card
  • Green box for plastics/glass/cans
  • Provide support systems to assist the more vulnerable members of the community such as the elderly or disabled.
  • Carry out ongoing educational and promotional activities to widen and expand the practice of waste minimisation and recycling amongst the local community.
  • Promote the use of compost bins by local people for their green waste.
  • Provide suitable alternative localised Recycling Banks for people to use.
How you can help

  • Please recycle as much as you can and minimise the waste in your wheelie bin. Landfilling waste is uneconomic and squanders valuable resources.
  • Wyre Forest District Council has recycling targets to meet each year. Please continue to help and support the achievement of these targets.
  • Remember the use of boxes:
  • Black for paper/light card/textiles
  • Green for plastics/glass/cans
  • Please check with us for different types of the above which can be recycled. Not everything can be processed.
  • Remember boxes are designed to be stacked.
  • Please do not use lids when boxes have been put out for collection. Stack the green box on top of the black one.
  • Place your boxes on the curtilage by 8.00 a.m.
  • Clean out all cans, jars and bottles etc. to reduce smells during storage and prevent contamination of recycling materials.
  • Please do not use plastic bags or similar items for recycling. Only use the boxes.
  • All collected material is processed and re-used. Contact us if you require further details.
  • Continue to use the Recycling Banks if you need to. Contact us for their locations.
  • Remember you should be able to recycle between 60% and 70% of your waste. If you need help, ask to speak to our Recycling Officer.
  • Use a compost bin for your green waste.
  • During windy or bad weather please ensure the boxes are stacked and not overloaded. Please help to keep the environment around you tidy.
  • Replacement lids for the boxes can be obtained by contacting the Customer Services Team. Replacement lids are available at a small cost.
  • Replacement boxes are free of charge however they will only be provided under set conditions.
  • The service will operate as normal on Bank Holidays with the exception of the Christmas/New Year holiday period.
