Renewable Energy

Renewable energy sources include solar water heating, solar photo-voltaic, wind, wood fuel, and ground source heat pumps.

Unlike fossil fuels such as coal, gas and oil, renewable energy sources will never run out. In addition, they don’t produce greenhouse gases.

Renewable Energy Grants in Wyre Forest

Eco Footprint The Council offers grants of up to £1,000 to help householders and not-for-profit community groups to install small scale heat generating renewable energy technologies.  For more information and to apply for a grant:
Download the Renewable Energy Grant Application Form pdf logo (2,432K)
Download the Renewable Energy Grant Guidance Notes pdf logo (2,874K)

The scheme requires that you make your home energy efficient first, as detailed in the guidance note.

See the Energy Efficiency webpage for advice and contacts

NB - the national Low CFarbon Buildig Programme is now closed to new applications. Visit the DECC website for further information.

Feed-in tariffs

Wind Turbine

Householders and communities who install electricity generating technologies, such as small wind turbines and solar photovoltaic panels, are now entitled to claim payments for the electricity they generate. Power from solar panels could earn you £900 a year, on top of a possible £140 reduction on your energy bill. To find out more, visit the Energy Savings Trust  website or call 0800 512012.

Both grant schemes require that you have made your home energy efficient.

Renewable Energy Planning Information

Solar panel in roof In some cases, renewable energy equipment can be installed without planning permission. This depends on the type of technology to be installed and the building’s location.
