Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA)
The SHLAA provides the evidence base to support the delivery of
sufficient land to meet the District's need for more
homes. The Assessment has been carried out in accordance with
current government guidance. The purpose of the SHLAA is to
identify possible sites for housing in the District; to assess the
sites for their housing potential; and to assess when the sites
could be delivered.

Information from the SHLAA will be used to inform the emerging
Core Strategy, Site Allocations and Policies and Kidderminster
Central Area Action Plan Development Plan Documents. The SHLAA
itself will not actually allocate land for future housing
development. The actual allocation of sites will be done through
the Development Plan Documents.
Strategic Housing Land Availability Assessment (SHLAA) Update
(2010)
The SHLAA has been updated to reflect changes in residential
permissions as at 1st April 2010. Further potential housing
sites have been considered by the assessment panel and a revised
housing trajectory has been developed. This report needs to read in
conjuction with the original SHLAA.

Sustainability Appraisal (SA)
The Local Development Framework must contribute towards the aims
of sustainable development. Sustainable development is about
meeting social, environmental and economic objectives at the same
time. It aims to achieve a better quality of life for everybody
both now and in the future.
To ensure that the Local Development Framework policies will
contribute towards sustainable development, each document produced
will be subject to a Sustainability Appraisal (SA). SA is an
appraisal tool which provides for the systematic identification and
evaluation of the economic, social and environmental impacts of a
policy or plan. It incorporates the requirements of the EU
Directive on Strategic Environmental Assessment.

Sustainability Appraisal Independent Check
Consultants UE Associates were commissioned, in April 2009, to
undertake an independent quality check of the District Council's
Core Strategy Sustainability Appraisal work completed to
date. The purpose of the work was to ensure that the
Sustainability Appraisal is in accordance with Regulations and
current advice and best practice and is independent. The
final report is available to view below. The results of this
work will be used to inform the Sustainability Appraisal Report
which will be produced alongside the Core Strategy Submission
Document in late 2009.

Strategic Flood Risk Assessment Level Two
Following recommendations in the Level One Strategic Flood Risk
Assessment (SFRA ) a more detailed Level 2 SFRA has been produced.
This study has considered in more detail a number of issues
including overtopping and breaching of flood defences in
Kidderminster and Bewdley as well as providing information on
appropriate Sustainable Drainage techniques for the District and
giving guidance on appropriate policies to deal with flood
risk. The final report and appendices are available to view
below. Due to the large file sizes the document has been
split into a number of component parts. (Please note that the
numbering associated with the figures follows the reference within
the main document and so are not necessarily sequential).
