Consultation on Potential Sites for Gypsies and Travellers
A Consultation on potential sites for Gypsies,
Travellers and Travelling Showpeople was undertaken between
7th October and 18th November 2011. All
responses were reported to the members of the District Council’s
Local Development Framework Review Panel, Overview and Scrutiny
Committee and Cabinet during January 2012.
A Consultation Statement has been produced
setting out an overview of the consultation process and the key
points raised. The Consultation Statement also includes notes from
the public meetings which were held during the consultation
period.

Summaries of all of the representations made,
together with the District Council’s response are set out
below:
In addition, a number of alternative sites were suggested in the
consultation responses. Cabinet, at their meeting on
31st January, decided to consult on three additional
sites:
- Land opposite the Gatehouse, Sandy Lane,
Stourport-on-Severn
- 28/29 Sandy Lane, Stourport-on-Severn
- 1a Broach Road, Stourport-on-Severn
There sites were subject to a
consultation period running from 7th February to 20th
March 2012.

The comments recieved are currently being
considered and will be used to inform allocations for Gypsy,
Traveller and Travelling Showpeople sites within the Site
Allocations and Policies Development Plan Document. Council
approval will be sought in July 2012 for a pre-submission
publication version of this document, which will be subject to
Independent Examination in late 2012.
