Core Strategy Development Plan Document

The Council’s Core Strategy is the Development Plan Document (DPD) that sets out the broad locations for delivering housing and other major development needs in the District such as employment, retail and transport. It does not deal with site-specific issues. All subsequent planning documents will build on the principles set out within the Core Strategy.

The Core Strategy has been developed over the last four years and underwent Examination in Public during Summer 2010.  The Core Strategy was found 'sound' by an independent inspector in October 2010.

Council resolved to adopt the Core Strategy at their meeting on 1st December 2010.  The Core Strategy was formally adopted and came into effect on 9th December 2010.

The period of legal challenge has now lapsed. No challenges to the adoption of the Core Strategy were made.
