Food Safety Legislation

Food safety legislation changed on 1st January 2006. The Food Standards Agency (FSA) has launched a ‘Safer Food Better Business’ pack to help small catering businesses comply with these new regulations. The new rules mean that all food businesses must have procedures in place to manage food safety and always produce safe food.

Wyre Forest District Council's Food team is handing out packs to assist small catering businesses such as restaurants, cafes and takeaways comply with the new laws. The packs, developed by the FSA working with catering businesses, are practical and easy to use.

Using this pack will help you to:

  • comply with the new regulations
  • show what you do to make food safely
  • train staff
  • protect the reputation of your business
  • improve your business e.g. by wasting less food.
