Review Panels

Scrutiny Committees at Wyre Forest District Council can create time-limited Review Panels to investigate, in-depth, specific service areas or policy.

How scrutiny reviews work

Each year, scrutiny reviews are scheduled into the annual work programme for our scrutiny committees.

Scrutiny committees conduct reviews by gathering evidence on the areas they are investigating, from a non-political point of view. This might be done through site visits, consultation activities or meetings.

The panel usually begins by asking for contributors to send in written evidence on the topic that is being investigated. Some contributors are then asked to speak at review panels.

Findings

Once the written and oral information on the review has been gathered, the panel brings all the findings together into a formal report with recommendations on policy and services.

This report will be referred to either the Corporate Resources Scrutiny Committee, or the Community and Regeneration Scrutiny Committee. Once satisfied, the committee will then send the report to the Cabinet for consideration.

Recommendations

The scrutiny panel which carried out the review will monitor the implementation of the recommendations, should they be agreed by Cabinet, together with the outcomes achieved.
