The Wyre Forest District Council Ranger Service employs temporary
seasonal Ranger staff through the school summer holidays for an 8 -
10 week period.
The jobs are usually advertised at the beginning of May through the
Kidderminster Times/News, Shuttle and Stourport News.

Purpose of Job
1. To assist the Countryside Rangers to deliver a programme of
environmental play and adventure.
2. To assist the Countryside Rangers in the day to day management
of the districts nature reserves.
Requirements in relation to experience, special qualifications and
training
1. Ability to communicate with young people.
2. An interest or qualification in environmental / countryside
issues.
3. A full clean driving licence.
Key tasks: Major duties and responsibilities
1. To assist with the execution of environmental adventure style
activities.
2. To work face to face with the children in the delivery of
activities and events.
3. To assist with the day to day practical management and
maintenance of the District Council's Nature Reserves.
4. To on occasion manage the day operations of the Habberley Valley
Rangers Centre.
5. To carry out any other duties or responsibilities within the
scope of the post which may be allocated from time to time by the
Head of Cultural, Leisure and Commercial Services or his/her
authorised representative.
This specification reflects the immediate requirements and
objectives of the post. Additional specific objectives may be
identified in consultation with the postholder as the duties of the
post develop.
Special conditions of employment
The post is being offered for a period not in excess of 9
weeks.
The hours of work are to be as directed by the Head of Cultural,
Leisure and Commercial Services and will differ from time to time
to meet the needs of Cultural, Leisure and Commercial Services.
Some evening, weekend and Bank Holiday working will be required,
and payment for this will be reflected in the grade.
Special circumstances of work
The postholder will be expected to work at any location organised
by the Section.
