Diamond Jubilee

The Diamond Jubilee marks 60 years of The Queen’s reign. The
Queen came to the throne on 6th February 1952 (her Coronation took
place on 2nd June 1953).
The Central Weekend to celebrate The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee
takes place from Saturday 2nd June to Tuesday 5th June 2012, with
celebratory activities throughout the United Kingdom and across the
Commonwealth. The Jubilee Weekend features an extra Bank Holiday
for the Diamond Jubilee, with the late May Bank Holiday moved one
week later, thereby making a 4-day long weekend.
Fireworks and Fun for Diamond Jubilee
You need look no further than the Wyre Forest area to celebrate
the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this summer. There are lots of
events lined up over this special weekend with something for
everyone to enjoy.
The plans include an Anniversary Tea Dance,
parties in our parks and a weekend long celebration of 60 years of
Music.
Wyre Forest District Council and The Shuttle
are hosting a Tea Dance at Kidderminster Town Hall on Thursday
31st May 2012 from 1.30 pm to 4.30 pm. The free event is
for couples who have been married more than 50 years.
Friday 1st June will see the start of a weekend long
celebration of 60 years of Music.
It is being organised by the Boars Head in
conjunction with the Boars Head Gallery.
They are aiming to have two stages, with more
than 30 local bands and DJs performing and arts and poetry events.
Friday 1st June will start from 7.30pm and then
Saturday, Sunday and Monday will be from 12noon – 2am. Entrance is
free. KAF Creatives will present a contemporary arts exhibition and
workshops as part of Worcestershire Arts Trail in the Boars Head

On Sunday 3rd June Wyre Forest District Council’s
Rock and Roll, Party in the Park at the
Riverside Meadows in Stourport-on-Severn will have a Jubilee
celebrations theme.
Everyone is invited to bring their own picnic
and enjoy the party atmosphere from midday until 8.00
pm. Bands performing include The Heartbeats, Delray
Rockets, Colin Paul and the Louie Cochran Trio. Dress in red, white
and blue to bring the Jubilee colours to life. For more

On Monday 4th June, Brinton Park will be the venue
for a great evening of Jubilee Celebrations and entertainment.
The fun starts at 4.30 pm and continues right
up until 10.00 pm. Howard Bentham from BBC Radio Hereford and
Worcester will present the event which has also been organised by
Wyre Forest District Council. There will be performances from
local artists Benny Jay, Blind Lemon, Lauren Alexandra, Chris D.
Salter and Stourport-on-Severn Brass Band and Got 2 Sing Show Choir
performing as well as leading a public sing-a-long.
The Jubilee Celebrations event at Brinton Park
is free but there will be a small charge for bouncy castles,
face painting and refreshments. Party-goers are encouraged to go
dressed in red, white and blue and there is a Best of British Fancy
dress competition for all, Children and adults are encouraged to
take part. Judging will be at 8.15pm from the Information Tent and
prizes for the best dressed.
Everyone in the local community is encouraged
to celebrate 60 years of the Queen's
reign with a patriotic sing-along, finishing with a
firework display at 9.50 pm. Please walk to the event if you can as

Celebrations will also take place in the QEII Jubilee Gardens,
Bewdley
Events will be taking place in the Gardens on Saturday
2nd, Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th
and will include a treasure hunt, bouncy castle, fancy dress
