The Severn Project returned for a look at the relationship
between the River Severn and Industry, in Bewdley and Bridgnorth.
Internationally renowned street theatre company Avante Display and
pyrotechnics company PaBoom! brought the river to life with
fantastic water and fire effects. |
 |
Performers playing Mr. Ferrous representing industry and
Sabrina the spirit of the river, created a romantic tale of
courtship accompanied by fiery and watery lantern processions,
songs and spectacle. |

Sabrina and the Engineer attracted more than 3,000 people to
the River Severn at Bewdley on the evening of Saturday 27th
September. |
 |
The simple story of the river represented in spectacular style
by Sabrina who was meeting industry, represented by Mr. Ferrous.
The story was portrayed by international artists Avante Display,
PaBoom! and Emergency Exit Arts. |
 |
The river became a stage, lit by catherine wheels walls of
fire, and spectacular water effects including a human fountain.
Sabrina and Mr. Ferrous exchanged songs across the water before
leaving for Bridgnorth in a magically lit boat. |
 |
Children lined both sides of the river in processions carrying
lanterns representing water and fire. The lanterns were made in
workshops prior to the event in Bewdley Primary School, St. Annes
Primary School and Arley Primary School. Led by teams of musicians,
a traction engine and chimneys billowing fire they escorted the
characters to the performance space on each side of the river. |
