Play Development
Play aids children’s development, physically, emotionally, mentally
and socially. It helps them to be fit and healthy, to explore life
and discover their strengths and limitations in a safe
environment.
Wyre Forest District Council play provision adheres to our
Equal Opportunities and
Safeguarding Children Policies.
Playday
 |
Playday is the annual celebration of children’s right to play.
It is a national campaign where thousands of children and young
people get out and play at locally organised events.
A huge network of people are involved in Playday – people who are
passionate about promoting children’s play. |
| . |
Playday is coordinated by Play England, working in partnership
with Play Wales, Play Scotland and PlayBoard Northern
Ireland.

What's it all about?
Playday is for everyone, from parents, to people who work
with children, policy makers, planners, teachers, and more - it’s
everyone’s responsibility to make time to see how they can help
promote children’s play.
In our busy and over scheduled lives it’s easy to prioritise
other things over play and to think play is something just children
do. As adults, we all need to make time and space to enable
children to play freely, and this is what we aim to highlight with
the Playday 2010.
We're pleased to announce the Playday 2010
campaign theme will be: ‘Our place’
The Playday ‘Our place’ campaign puts children at the heart of
our communities, and asks everyone, young and old, to help create
better places for all of us to live and play.
If you would like become involved or take part in Playday 2010

Playday 2008
The theme for Playday 2008, which was held on Wednesday 6
August, was "Give us a go!"
The campaign called for children to be allowed challenging and
adventurous play opportunities and aimed to shake off the 'cotton
wool' culture that can limit children’s play.
