Xpressions/KAF Dragons Den Grant information
What are we looking to fund?
This funding is for the purpose of commissioning new work which
will be exhibited/performed etc. during the Wyre Forest District
Council’s (WFDC) Kidderminster Arts Festival (KAF).
We are looking for high quality arts from any discipline using any
medium.
We are looking to support work which will engage and inspire our
audiences. Your work may be an installation, a performance, a
series of workshops, or an exhibition.
What do you need to include in your initial application?
Please give us the following information:
- Your name
- Address
- Email
- Telephone
- A brief outline of your idea. You may include images.
- How you will be presenting to the Dragons Den Panel
What we require from you at your Dragons Den session
- Detailed breakdown of your proposal, including any details of
elements which will be subcontracted.
- Sketches and drawings of your idea.
- Detailed budget breakdown for your proposal on presentation of
your idea.
- Portfolio of previous work.
- You may chose to make a presentation using Powerpoint though
this is not required. Please let us know if you require
access to a computer and projector.
- Capital Items.
- Training courses or expenses relating to long periods of
research.
- Artwork which is deemed offensive and inappropriate to the
event.
- Work which does not embrace the ethos of WFDC Equal
Opportunities, Diversity, or Child Protection Policies.
- Work which will endanger or threaten the safety of the
public.
In addition to your funding, you will be offered mentoring sessions
with WFDC Arts and Play Development Officer.
Your work will be featured on WFDC website and given substantial
marketing through KAF brochure and press.
We will photograph your work and you will have access to digital
copies. We will conduct an evaluation of audiences who see your
work during KAF and data will be made available to you.
We will feature you and your work in WFDC Arts Newsletter.
WFDC reserves the right to publish images of your work and until
the end of KAF the work will remain the property of WFDC.
On completion of the Arts Festival the work will become the
property of the Artist, however the Council reserves the right to
use any images or other documentation relating to the work for
publicity and promotional purposes.
The Artist must not advertise the work independently or exhibit or
perform the work without the consent of WFDC until after KAF has
finished.
On completion of the project the Artist must credit WFDC as the
Commissioning body.
What you are committing to
On receiving your grant you will be committing to an initial
meeting with the Arts and Play Development Officer to agree a
series of milestones and feedback methods.
If the work is not completed in time for display or incorporation
during KAF the artist will be liable to return the funding given to
them from the ‘Xpressions Grant’ in full.
The total grant given must cover the cost of the project unless
evidence can be provided that additional funds are in place before
commencement.
The Artist must be available for the duration of KAF and attend the
launch event.
The Artist must be available for Press Calls when required.
The Artist will be required to work independently during KAF and
should be able to deliver/install their work without any assistance
from WFDC.
The Artist must liaise with the Arts Development Officer or
Community Development Manager throughout the development and
delivery of their work.
The Artist will be required to give updates at regular intervals as
to the progress of their work at agreed intervals. This may be by
email, in writing or through a meeting with the above
officers.
The Artist must have a bank account to receive the funding.
If the artist is proposing to work directly with children they must
be prepared to undergo an Enhanced CRB check.
If your finished work is deemed unfit for purpose, a health and
safety risk or offensive, WFDC reserve the right to not exhibit it
at any time.
