12 Moves Worcestershire
What is 12 Moves – Worcestershire Dancing?
This ambitious project is taking place across
Worcestershire and forms part of the People Dancing programme which
is part of the People Dancing Cultural Olympiad project for London
2012.
‘12 Moves’ is a multi faceted 2.5 year
project, produced by the Worcestershire dance agency Dancefest
whose aim for the project is to give members of Worcestershire
communities the opportunity to take part and experience
dance. It also aims to engage inspire and surprise the
communities of Worcestershire through dance as a participant,
audience member or digital collaborator leaving a long term legacy
of dance and partnership in the county.
Positive dance activities will be marketed to
young people aged 11-19 years old and those under 75. These
target audiences will be reached over several stages in all the
Worcestershire districts. The aim will be to address
target groups who might not previously have had access to
dance. All of this will be achieved through workshops
delivered by 2 Dance Squads.
To promote dance to people on the street,
flashmobs will be used with the aim of targeting people who do not
normally associate themselves with dance and encourage
participation from other leisure sectors such as sports, skate
boarding and other movement based activities.
Events and digital installations will be
taking place all over the region over the next two years; this
might be in a shopping centre, city centre, at a festival or a
local park.
