Mapping our Community
Waterhouse Consultants
have carried out a mapping exercise to gather information about
communities in Worcestershire as part of the
'Being Different Together' project. This means
that we now know more about our communities including numbers, age,
gender, housing tenure, household makeup, employment, income.
Not only that we also have more information on the
perceptions and aspirations of minority groups living in
Worcestershire for example in relation to housing, employment,
leisure, education, health and social care.
A range of approaches have been incorporated into the project to
gather information such as an extensive literature review of
current information in relation to minority groups and of current
Council equality and diversity schemes, as well as carrying
out focus groups, interviews, and surveys.
Dr Frank Reeves lead the mapping exercise for being different
together. He is a Partner at Waterhouse Consulting Group, prior to
which he was chief executive of Rights and Equalities West
Midlands.
He is a well known expert and has published widely on community
needs, community cohesion, race equality and Muslim community
issues. He currently holds numerous positions including Visiting
Professorship at the University of Birmingham and Membership of the
ACPO National Independent Advisory Group on Gun Crime.
