Housing

Willow Court development

In April 2000 the Council sold all of its housing stock to the Community Housing Group.

They operate the Housing Advice and Homelessness service on behalf of the Council.

However, the Council still retains important housing responsibilities which are controlled by Housing Services.  These consist of:

  • Housing Strategy who oversee and monitor the work done by Community Housing and work with partner organisations to help provide affordable housing for people in need.  This includes work with Private Sector Landlords and the operation of the Rent Deposit Bond Scheme.
  • Private Sector Housing who deal with a wide range of functions providing advice, assistance and enforcement in relation to housing conditions.  These functions are listed on the right hand side and explained in more detail on the private sector housing page.
  • Health and Sustainability who oversee work to tackle climate change, reduce carbon emissions, encourage energy efficiency and renewable energy, and to promote affordable warmth and healthy living.

Flyer for the Homelessness StrategyThe Draft Worcestershire Homelessness Strategy for 2012-2017 is currently out for consultation and we would like to hear your views.

Spotlight on Housing Services is a regular newsletter containing details of the work the department does and the latest developments within the sector.
