Housing Services

The Council sold all of its housing stock in April 2000 to The Community Housing Group, (a local Housing Association). However, the Council still retains important housing responsibilities as the Local Housing Authority. These are set out below and have links to other parts of the Council’s website and those of external organisations, so that you can obtain further information.

Housing Strategy Team

The Community Housing Group operates the Homelessness and Housing Advice service on behalf of the Council. The aim of this service is to prevent homelessness from happening in the first place and to provide housing advice generally to people who require assistance. Our Housing Strategy Team oversees and monitors this service as the Council still retains important housing responsibilities as the Local Housing Authority. Home Choice Plus Logo

The Housing Strategy Team also works with its partner housing associations to help provide affordable housing, both rented and shared ownership for people in housing need.

Private Sector Housing Team

The Council’s Private Sector Housing Team deal with a wide range of functions which mainly relate to ensuring that housing conditions are monitored to a decent standard and it provides advice, assistance and where necessary enforces standards. The council works closely with the North Worcestershire Care and Repair Agency, they can offer practical advice and assistance on property conditions for older and vulnerable people.

The Housing section has received the final report on the stock condition survey carried out on private housing in the district. View the house condition survey pdf logo (3,905K)
