Affordable Warmth is the ability to heat your
home adequately for household comfort, without getting into fuel
debt as a result. Cold, damp homes can contribute to ill health and

Is your home losing heat?
A typical British home, loses one third of the heat produced by
central heating systems through the roof, walls and windows. This
means that £1 in every £3 spent on heating is wasted. Making sure
your home is properly insulated - see our range on energy efficiency for
advice, including details of grants and subsidies for all, or call
Act on Energy on 0800 9882881.

Make sure you're on the best tariff
All energy suppliers have to offer their most vulnerable
customers cheaper tariffs. These are called
social tariffs and offer cheaper energy deals to certain
customers. You may qualify for a social tariff if you are over 60,
on means tested benefits or are on a low income. If you think you
qualify for a social tariff
contact your energy supplier for more details.
