For most properties in the Wyre Forest, your rubbish will be collected from a 240 litre green wheelie bin (smaller bins are available - contact the Hub on 01562 732928)

All items for disposal can be placed in your rubbish bin which will be collected fortnightly on alternate weeks with your green recycling bin.

If you're unsure of which day your bin is collected you can check your bin collection day online

STOP! Can you recycle it? If you're not sure what you can and can't recycle you can view the recycling information guide pdf logo(1.01MB) or refer to our Recycling A-Z for advice on where to recycle common household items.

Love Food Hate Waste

lfhw logo
Every year in the UK we throw away £12 billion worth of food which could have been eaten. The Love Food Hate Waste programme from WRAP (Waste & Resources Action Programme) shows that by doing easy practical everyday things in the home we can all waste less food, which ultimately benefits our purses and the environment too. If we all stopped wasting food that could have been eaten, it would have the same environmental impact as taking 1 in 4 cars off UK roads. lovefoodhatewaste.com has lots of delicious recipes to use up leftovers, handy hints and tips for storing food to make it last longer, a portion calculator to help you cook the right amount, and information on what food date labels mean. There is something for everyone, whether you are a keen cook, or simply want to reduce the amount of food which you throw away.

Frequently Asked Questions About Rubbish Collections

What day is my collection day?

You can use our online facility for checking which day is your collection day for both rubbish and recycling collections.

Is there an alternative to putting something in my rubbish bin for disposal?

landfill   All waste that is placed in rubbish bins is sent to a landfill site which is generally a giant hole in the ground into which the waste is tipped. Estimates suggest that if people continue to throw rubbish away at the same rate as today landfill space will run out by 2017.

Since the launch of the new recycling service in July 2010 residents have been able to recycle more from their new green wheelie bins, meaning that less material needs to be disposed of through your rubbish bin, keeping it out of landfill.

In fact, since July residents have been recycling over 8% more!

If you're unsure about which items you can recycle, visit our Recycling Pages and read about the changes to your recycling service.

Don't forget that even if you can't recycle an item using your green wheelie bin, there may be somewhere else where it can be recycled or reused. Read the Recycling A-Z for more information and a guide to where some common household items can be reused/recycled.

Why has my bin not been emptied today?

Please check your bin for a contamination label. If there isn't one, your bin was out before 6.00 am (unless previously notified) and there was no obstruction or access problem for the collection vehicle, then we will arrange for the crew to return and empty your bin. Report it using our domestic rubbish collection form.

My bin has been stolen/damaged/is missing - how can I request a new one?

If you have previously had a bin at your property but it is now missing or damaged, you can request one by contacting Customer Services on 01562 732928.
Please note that the Council reserves the right to make a £20 charge for bins that are reported as missing on a day that is not your normal collection day.

How can I request a pull-out and return ('assisted') service?

If you have difficulty taking your bin to the kerbside, then we can arrange for the crews to pull your bin out and return it back after emptying. In order to receive this service you will be assessed by our Customer Services Staff to the extent of your difficulty. For more information or to apply for this service please contact the Hub Tel: 01562 732928.

What can I do with my garden waste?

Please note that we do not accept garden waste in the rubbish bins for collection.

We recommend home composting as the main way for residents to dispose of their garden waste and kitchen fruit and veg waste. The Council can provide low-cost composting bins from just £8 (plus £5 delivery) to help with this. Visit our Composting page for more information. Where to place your compost bin
