Countryside Services
The Countryside Service team manages the Wyre
Forest District Council Nature Reserves.
These include the some of the counties most important wetland sites of:
- Puxton Marsh
- Hurcott Pools and Wood
- Redstone Marsh
- Blake Marsh
- Spennells Valley
The team also has responsibility for the
majority of the County’s Lowland
Heaths at:
- The Rifle Range
- Burlish Top
- Habberley Valley
- Vicarage Farm Heath
The Countryside Service team also manages the
community Local Nature Reserve of Half Crown Wood.
Other Conservation functions include:
- Management of the Wyre Forest GAP (grazing animals
project)
- Liaison with the planning authority to ensure all planning
applications conform to the Government’s Planning and Policy
Statement (PPS) 9 Biodiversity and Geological Conservation.
The section also provides the Rangers
Environmental Education Activities which include:
- After schools clubs in the Walshes, Horsefair and Oldington and
Foley Park areas.
- A regular Young Rangers Club
- Summer Holiday Events and Activities
- Young People's Practical Conservation Projects
- Talks and walks for local groups.
