What is the cost of obtaining Building Regulations ? The
Charges you are required to pay, and what they cover....
Since 1st April 1999 Councils has been able to fix their
own charges by means of a published scheme which outlines charges
for building work, to which the Building Regulations apply.

Worcestershire Building Control Charges 
When making a building regulations submission, charges are
required when the application is deposited.
A Local Authority cannot accept an application without this
payment.
In accordance with their schemes, Local Authorities
impose flat rate charges for : -
- Small domestic buildings, i.e. houses and flats up to three
storeys
- Domestic extensions less than10m² floor area-
- Domestic extensions between 10m² and 40m² floor area.-
- Domestic extensions between 40m² and 60m² floor area.-
- Domestic extensions between 60m² and 200m² floor area,-
- Loft conversions
- Erection or extension of a non-exempt single storey car-port or
garage not exceeding 100m²
- Window replacement
- Electrical work
All other types of work are charged at a variable rate related
to the value of the work.
Works solely improving access and facilities for disabled
persons, and dwelling house alterations and extensions for an
disabled person in residence are exempt from the Building
Regulation Charges but are still required to meet the appropriate
technical requirements. Non-fee paying applications are still
required.
