Garden Waste Collection Service

Need help getting rid of your garden waste? Have you got too much garden waste to compost?

Wyre Forest District Council can help.

A new environmentally-friendly Garden Waste Collection Service began in April 2010.

This is a hassle-free way of getting rid of your garden waste, including grass cuttings, hedge and shrub clippings, weeds, cut flowers, leaves, twigs and bark.

Don't worry if you join part-way through the season; collections are fortnightly until the end of November 2010, and will then begin again in March 2011.  The service costs £30 per year (payable by direct debit only).  There is also a one-off £20 fee for a brown wheeled bin. Your annual subscription fee is due on your 'anniversary' date, a year after your service began.

Check the service covers your area

Initially the service is limited and won't cover all homes.  To check that we're operating the service in your area, please use the property search online facility.

Check the service is right for you

If your area is covered, you can read our Garden Waste Collection Service Frequently Asked Questions to check that the service is right for you.  These include information on payments, what we can and can not collect as well as what to do if the service is not available in your area.

You could also visit one of our roadshows, where Council officers will be happy to answer your questions.

Still not sure? Here are just some advantages of the service:

  • It's convenient and easy to use
  • It saves the time of loading your car and taking it to the Household Recycling Centre, and reduces your carbon footprint.
  • It saves trouble cleaning up grass and dirt from the back of your car afterwards
  • The garden waste is composted into a usable soil conditioner, and is available to purchase to improve your garden.
  • It avoids garden waste being sent to landfill where it would rot and produce a toxic gas called methane, which contributes to climate change.

Here's what we will and will not be able to collect:
