Dog Warden Service - Lost and Stray Dogs

Stray dogs can be a danger for many reasons, not least of which being that they could cause a serious road accident or bite a child.

Our dog warden is able to respond to reports of stray dogs during office hours, Monday to Friday 8.30 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. and deal with them accordingly, telephone 01562 732928 . To report a stray dog outside these hours contact 01562 850053.

The Police are responsible for dangerous dogs.

All dogs must be provided with a means of identification, such as a collar and tag and/or microchip. For further information, please email our Customer Service team

If you are reporting that you have seen/found a stray dog:

If the dog is contained we will arrange for the dog warden to collect it. If it is roaming then we will patrol in the area and try to detain the dog, however this can be very difficult.

Please do not keep the dog for any period of time before contacting us as the owner may be looking for it.  If you feel you may wish to offer the dog a home if it is not claimed by the owner, please let us know and we can advise you.

To report a stray dog, please telephone 01562 732928 (outside of normal office hours your call will be re-directed)

If you want to report a lost dog:

If you have lost your dog, please telephone Customer Services on 01562 732928 during normal office hours.  You could also try the kennels listed below and the Police to see if they have information about your dog.
