Demolition - control and advice

When intending to demolish a building, a notice must be made to the Building Control section, which is usually a minimum of six weeks prior to work commencing. You can complete a notice of intended demolition online or submit your intention in writing.

A location plan of the building and adjoining streets must be provided together with a method statement for the demolition of larger buildings.

Notification should be sent to the occupier(s) of any adjacent buildings. Statutory undertakers (e.g. Gas, Electricity and Water suppliers) should also be notified in order that they may arrange for their services to be properly sealed.

The Environmental Health and Planning Divisions may also require consultation prior to demolition of any building.
