Council considers pay policy statement

Another step to provide greater transparency and accountability is being introduced by Wyre Forest District Council.

The authority’s Cabinet will consider recommendations to adopt a pay policy statement, at its meeting on Tuesday 31st January 2012.  The proposed statement sets out the authority’s policies on how remuneration is decided, both for chief officers and for other staff. The Council’s policies on other aspects of remuneration such as mileage allowances, bonuses and pay increases are included too.

Publishing a pay policy statement is a requirement of the Localism Act 2011.

Councillor Nathan Desmond, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Resources and Transformation said,

“We already provide a great deal of information to help transparency, which includes pay scales, Councillors' expenses, and items of expenditure over £500.  The adoption of a pay policy statement will set out for everyone to see what officers of all grades get paid and the Council’s reasoning behind this.”

If the Cabinet agrees the recommendation to adopt the statement, it will be considered by full Council on Wednesday 29th February.  The final version of the Pay Policy statement would be published on this website.
