Further Gypsy and Traveller Sites Consultation

Wyre Forest District Council this week launches a six week consultation on three further possible sites to be allocated in the Local Development Framework (LDF) for Gypsies and Travellers. The consultation opens on 7th February and will last until 20th March.

A consultation on 7 sites took place during October and November 2011.  The representations received were reported to Members of the LDF Panel, Overview and Scrutiny Committee and Cabinet during January.  At their meeting on 31st January Cabinet decided to allocate three of the sites for gypsy and traveller use. These are

  • Land adjacent to Nunn’s Corner, Stourport-on-Severn
  • Saiwen, Stourport-on-Severn
  • The Gables Yard, Stourport-on-Severn

Cabinet also decided that consultation should take place on three further sites which were suggested in the public’s response to the initial consultation.  Therefore, consultation is now being specifically undertaken on the following sites:

  • Land Opposite The Gatehouse, Sandy Lane, Stourport-on-Severn
  • 28/29 Sandy Lane, Stourport-on-Severn
  • 1a Broach Road, Stourport-on-Severn

As this consultation is specifically related to views on the three additional sites, the Council will not be inviting further comment on the principle of allocating sites, the process undertaken, or on any of the sites it previously consulted on. The Council has no plans to hold public meetings as it did with the earlier round of consultation.

The District Council has prepared a 'Public Consultation Pack' to accompany the consultation.  This document provides further information on the proposed sites. You can find out more about this process and get involved in a number of ways.
