Gypsy and traveller sites - reminder of arrangements for
meeting to consider consultation process
Wyre Forest District Council is reminding residents about the
arrangements for meetings of its Overview and Scrutiny Committee
and Cabinet next week to consider the consultation process on gypsy
and traveller sites.
The Overview and Scrutiny Committee meets at 6pm on Monday 19
September in the Civic Hall, Stourport-on-Severn and the Cabinet
meets at 6pm on Tuesday 20 September, also in the Civic Hall. As is
usual, formal meetings of councillors are being held in public, and
members of the public are welcome to attend to see the Council's
democratic processes in action.
At each meeting, Council employees will be on hand to
ensure that members of the public are safely seated in the Hall.
Standing will not be allowed. If more people attend than the number
of seats in the Hall, additional seating will be provided in the
Council's chamber and a sound relay will be available so that what
is said in the meetings can be heard. A limited number of speakers
have registered to speak and only they will be allowed to address
the meetings, in addition to councillors and relevant officers.
The meetings will discuss a report from consultants. It
identifies potential new gypsy, traveller and travelling
showpeople's sites at various locations in the district upon which
the Council could consult as part of its Local Development
Framework. The Cabinet will decide how to proceed with the
consultation, following consideration by the Overview and Scrutiny
Committee and any recommendations that it wants to make to the
Cabinet. The meetings this month are not taking decisions
about where any additional sites will be provided. A full
consultation, during which Parish and Town Councils, the public and
other stakeholders will be invited to participate, will begin in
October and last for six weeks. Everyone will have the
opportunity to submit their comments as part of that process.
For both meetings, there will be no spaces available for the
public in the car park immediately adjacent to the Civic Hall.
Anyone arriving by car can park in the nearby public car parks in
Raven Street or Severn Meadows, where charges apply until
6.30pm.
