New fitness trail
Residents are being offered the chance to get
outdoors and get fit on the new Burlish Top fitness trail.
The new trail, which starts at the Kingsway in
Stourport on Severn has been created by Wyre Forest District
Council with lottery funding from Sport England. It is one
and a half kilometres long and is suitable for runners and walkers
of all abilities. There are four parts to the trail and
participants can read about how to tackle each stage and get advice
on stretches at stations around the route.
The trail is officially opening on Sunday
11th September when there will be three free 30 minute
taster sessions. They start at 11.15am, 12.10am and
2.30pm. The sessions are being led by a qualified fitness
coach and will include an outdoor cardiovascular workout around the
fitness trail with circuit training exercises and a cool down.
Anyone wanting a gentle workout can enjoy a
free guided walk, led by Wyre Forest District Council
Rangers. There is free parking at Stourport Sports Club and
free shuttle buses to the trail.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community
well-being said,
“The new fitness trail is a great way to get
fit outdoors. As well as helping with your general feeling of
well-being it can help you de-stress and you can enjoy the changing
seasons. We hope people will take up the challenge and keep
coming back to enjoy it.”
The opening of the trail is part of the Wyre
Forest Community Games event which is being held at Stourport
Sports Club between 11am and 3pm. It is a chance to see some
live athletics action and have a go. For more details of the
community games visit Stourort Sports
Club website.
