Have your say on the proposed Green Street Conservation Area
Appraisal
Businesses, residents, and interested groups
are being asked to give their views on plans for the proposed Green
Street Conservation Area.
A draft Conservation Area Character Appraisal
and Management Plan has been prepared. This is a document which
outlines the significance and special interest of a Conservation
Area; it details the features that make the specific area unique.
It is one of the documents that guides and informs planning policy
for an area. Wyre Forest District Council would like the views of
local people and business about important features of the area.
There are currently 16 conservation areas in
the Wyre Forest district. Conservation Areas are areas of
special architectural or historic interest. They should have a
character or appearance which is desirable to preserve or enhance.
Under The Planning (Listed Buildings and Conservation Areas)
Act 1990 the Council has a statutory duty to consider whether it
should designate new conservation areas.
The draft Character Appraisal and Management
Plan for the proposed Green Street
Conservation Area can be viewed online in the conservation
section of the Council’s website from Thursday 3rd
November. It will also be available to be viewed at the
Worcestershire Hub, at Kidderminster Town Hall and
Stourport-on-Severn Civic Centre during normal opening hours from
3rd November.
Councillor Julian Phillips, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet
Member for Place-shaping said,
“The Council is currently at the draft stage
of the appraisal process and we’re asking local people to take part
in the consultation by identifying the qualities and features that
they feel are important to the character of the proposed Green
Street Conservation Area. It is fair to say that this area covers
the historic core of Kidderminster, a historic core we should be
proud of. This consultation gives people and organisations an
opportunity to help preserve its character and retain its links
with history."
The consultation runs until 15th
December 2011.
Comments on the draft appraisal can be emailed
to the Conservation
Officer or sent to The Conservation Officer,
Planning and Regulatory Services Directorate, Duke House, Clensmore
Street, Kidderminster, Worcs. DY10 2JX.
All comments will be reported to the elected
members in February 2012.
