Brinton Park will be blooming thanks to WI
Almost 1,800 daffodil bulbs have been planted
in Brinton Park, thanks to the Women’s Institute.
The Foley Park branch of the WI held a special
‘bring and buy’ sale and Strawberry Tea in the summer to raise
money for the bulbs. On Wednesday 16th November
members joined Wyre Forest District Council’s Parks and Green
Spaces section to plant the bulbs.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member with
responsibility for Community-wellbeing said,
“Thanks to Foley Park WI we are able to plant
a daffodil drift in Brinton Park. We are very grateful for
the donation and also their help with planting. This is
another great example of the community getting involved and helping
us improve the area for everyone. I’m looking forward to
seeing the display in the Spring.”
The daffodil drift is the first stage of a new
Spring area in the park where the Council plans to plant more
spring flowering bulbs and trees.
Angela Chipp, President of Foley Park WI
said,
“When I took over as President I was looking
for a Community project to get involved with. One of our
members was approached by the Friends of Brinton Park to help with
planting and it seemed like such a nice idea. It’s great that
most of the Foley Park members have been able to come along and get
involved in the planting. ”
