Plan focuses on communities and economic
regeneration
‘Securing the economic prosperity of the
district’ is one of the three main areas Wyre Forest District
Council has chosen to focus on over the next three years.
The authority is setting out its aims in its
new Corporate Plan, ‘Engage, Consult, Deliver.’ It has also
chosen to work on ‘delivering together, with less’ and ‘improving
community wellbeing.’
The Corporate Plan 2011-2014 sets out the
direction of the Council and gives a focus for how it will provide
services. It does not list everything the Council does but
gives its vision for the district and how it plans to respond to
the challenges ahead.
Councillor John Campion, Leader of Wyre Forest
District Council said,
“The Council has faced some very tough
financial challenges and this isn’t going to change soon, but we
are aiming to maintain and improve the quality of our
services. We need to make savings; we have got reduced
resources, so we’re looking at new ways of working with others so
we can keep providing good value for money services.
The plan gives us a focus for our resources so we can ensure
that we’re using them to the best effect to improve quality of life
for our communities.“
Among the things the Council wants to be
working towards in 2014 is, a community with lower
unemployment. It is prioritising supporting regeneration and
enterprise and promoting tourism. There will also be a focus
on creating a cleaner and green local environment. The plan
includes getting communities involved, from informing the decisions
the council makes to taking on managing assets and
services.
The Corporate Plan will be available to be read in full on
the Council’s website www.wyreforestdc.gov.uk/corporateplan
and at the Worcestershire Hub customer service centres –
from 1st April 2011.
