Work underway on Council's new HQ

Midlands based contractor, Thomas Vale Construction is pleased to announce the official launch ceremony of one of their most prestigious contracts for Wyre Forest District Council. The project includes the eco-friendly £6.9 million offices for the council situated on the Kidderminster/Stourport border. The new office is a key element of the authority’s plans to deliver revenue savings of £500,000 year on year which will save taxpayers money and can be directed into front-line services.

Tony Hyde, Managing Director of Thomas Vale Construction added: “As a local company, Thomas Vale is extremely proud to be undertaking this amazing transformation for Finepoint Business Park on behalf of Wyre Forest District Council.”New HQ turf cutting

When complete the offices will replace more expensive buildings and bring together employees under one roof.

Councillor John Campion, Leader of Wyre Forest District Council said,

“We are delighted the building work is underway and in a year’s time we will have a new Head Quarters which is suitable for our employees and saving tax payers money.  This will enable us to direct those savings into frontline services.  We will now start to see the economic benefits to the district coming to fruition with opportunities for local businesses and residents in terms of jobs, training opportunities and supply contracts.”

Tom Gormley, development surveyor at Highcross commented: “We are delightedthat the Council has chosen Finepoint Business Park for its new Headquarters, our plans for the scheme were to create a prestigious business park, offering both high quality office and industrial/warehouse space for companies.  Now that construction is starting on site we believe this will spark added interest in the remaining opportunities for companies seeking bespoke office space in a central location.”

This building project will also see the Council delivering on its promise to reduce CO2 emissions from its buildings by 85%. The building has been designed with the aim of achieving an ‘excellent’ BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method) rating. This means that the building will contain a number of innovative low carbon technologies including ground source heat pump and a green roof.
