Local park plans pave way for Big Society
A series of meetings is now underway between Wyre Forest
District Council and local Friends groups to discuss agreements for
how local parks and green spaces can be developed jointly into
the future.
The friends of Brinton Park, Baxter Gardens, Springfield Park,
Broadwaters and St Georges Park have all been contacted by the
Council to discuss what they want to see in their parks and
also to advise on what they personally wish to deliver in their
local park.
The completed documents will become 10 year development plans
for the parks and will form the basis of Big Society Parks
management plans or a 'Big Soc Parks Doc'.
The agreed issues will be used to formalise a partnership
between the Council and the users of the parks and so strengthen
the co-operation and understanding of the groups involved.
Councillor Tracey Onslow Wyre Forest District Council's Cabinet
Member for Community Well-being said,
"Wyre Forest District Council has had good working partnerships
for several years now with a number of the groups. So,
with the support of new government legislation in the form of Big
Society, Community Friends Groups can now experience even more
support and commitment to their parks and green spaces by the
local Council
Wyre Forest District Council already has established
relationships with groups such as Broadwaters, Brinton Park,
St George's, Springfield Park and Baxter Gardens.
Over the forthcoming weeks and months the parks team at the
Council will be unveiling plans to develop each of the sites over
the next ten years, and this can only be sustained with the full
input and support of each of the groups."
Should anybody wish to be involved in any of the groups
mentioned they can obtain further information from the Council's
park team on 01562 722928.
