New Fitness Trails on Local Nature Reserves
Breathe new life into your new year and try out a new fitness
trail – right on your doorstep.
Wyre Forest District Council has created a series of new fitness
trails around the local nature reserves. Events have been organised
to launch the new trails to beginners and seasoned runners as well
as to families who want to enjoy their local nature reserves.
The first event will take place at Hurcott Pools and Wood nature
reserve. Residents are invited to come along and try out the trail
on Sunday 16th January between 10.00am and 11.30am.
There will be information available about walking and sports clubs
in the district as well as healthy living information provided by
the local health trainer service. There will also be a 30 minute
family walk and talk led by a member of the Council’s Ranger
Service.
Residents are also invited to try out a different trail at
Burlish Top Nature Reserve on Saturday 22nd January
between 10.00am and 11.30am.
Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District Council’s Cabinet Member for
Community & Partnership Services said
“This is a great way of enjoying the local nature reserves as
well as getting fitter – always a bonus after the festive season!
Both of the trails can also be done with an online calorie
counter which will be available to use on the day, so you can see
how many calories you’ve burned up. We’d like to encourage everyone
to come along and get on the fitness trail”
There will be limited car parking at both events and families
who wish to come along for the walk at Hurcott Pool and Woods are
advised to book as there are limited places.
