BETTER DEAL IN GOVERNMENT’S FUNDING ANNOUNCEMENT FOR WYRE
FOREST
Wyre Forest District Council has given a cautious welcome to the
Government’s announcement about how much grant it will receive in
the next financial year.
The Government announced on Monday that more grant would be
provided for the council in 2011-12 than had been proposed before
Christmas.
Cllr John Campion, Leader of the Council said,
“I am pleased that the Government has listened to the response
from Wyre Forest following the announcement in December and that
some additional help is being provided in the coming financial
year. Before Christmas Mark Garnier MP and I had a useful meeting
with Bob Neill MP, the local government Minister, and I would like
to express my appreciation to him for hearing our case.
“This news will go a little way to helping us to protect the
most valued and necessary front line services on which our
communities depend. The focus now needs to shift to influencing the
Government to look again at the level of grant funding in the
following year, 2012-13, when we will face another significant cut
in Government support.”
