New bird boxes for Brinton Park
New bird boxes have been put up in Brinton
Park, Kidderminster thanks to a joint project between Wyre Forest
District Council and Kidderminster College.
The full time students, who have learning
difficulties, are on the second year of a City
and Guilds qualification in Employability and
Personal Development. They chose to work with the Council’s
Parks Team to complete the community project as part of their
course.
Student Tamsin Shaw, said,
“We wanted to attract more visitors and
residents to Brinton Park to see the wildlife here, so we came up
with the idea of putting up bird boxes. The project has been
good because we have been working in teams and it has really shown
us what a difference team work can make too.”
The students also made the bird boxes during
their wood work lesson. Five have been installed in the trees at
the top of the path from the main Sutton Road entrance.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member with responsibility for Community
well-being said,
“This is another great example of how we’ve
been working in partnership to bring benefits to all. The
students have got a lot out of the project and thanks to them the
park now has new bird boxes. We too hope they will attract
visitors of both the human and feathered variety!”
