Summer of fun - and it's not over yet!
Wyre Forest youngsters have enjoyed a full-on
summer this year. Wyre Forest District Council is already reporting
record breaking attendance for its summer activities programme.
Councillor Tracey Onslow, Cabinet Member for
Community Well-being said
“The Summer Activity Programme has always
been popular with local residents and this year is no
exception. As well as just 'giving the kids something to do'
the drop in play sessions actively encourage play within families,
with our play leaders supporting, organising and leading the
sessions. We have seen a huge increase in numbers at all
venues, but especially at Wolverley where ninety-nine children
attended last week - and this does not include the adults who
stayed!
She added,
“Taking advantage of the fair weather, most of
the outdoor activities organised by the Rangers were
also fully booked, including the big family camping overnight
event which was a new event this year so to see it fully booked
and to receive great feedback from families was very
rewarding. For me, besides the obvious benefits
for health and family well-being, our Activity Programme
also gives a boost to the local economy as it
gives local families the option of spending all the
school holidays at events within the Wyre Forest. ”
Sally J, whose daughter Holly attended some of
the sessions said,
“There is a very varied choice of activities
and I feel they offer excellent
value for money. I didn't book too many in the beginning as I
was unsure as
to whether she would enjoy them but next year we shall be booking
as soon as
they become available.”
Sport-here sessions have been popular
this year with a variety of sports available at ten different
venues across the whole of the district. These include Springfield
Park, St Georges Park, Tudor Road, and White Wickets.
There is still one week to go! There are
spaces still left to do Musical Theatre, Dance Sessions and
Arts Workshops. To book and for more information please contact the
booking line on 01562 732984 or look on
Sumer Activity Programme pages.
