It's easy to vote by post
If you are not registered to vote by post, there is still time
to register for a postal vote for the forthcoming elections and
referendum.
The deadline for registering is Thursday 14th
April if you want to vote in the elections and referendum
that will be held on Thursday 5th
May. Wyre Forest residents are being urged not to
leave it until the last minute to ensure they can vote by post if
they wish.
Anyone can request to cast his or her vote by post instead of
visiting a polling station on the day itself. Registration is
a quick process and you only need to do it once and the application
will cover both elections and the referendum.
If you have moved house in the last year or only asked for a
postal vote for one election, you will need to register for a
postal vote again. For convenience, you can
apply online or requested an application form by the
elections team
or phoning 01562 732928.
Ian Miller, Electoral Registration Officer at Wyre Forest
District Council said,
"Anyone who is on the electoral register can apply for a postal
vote. You don't need a special reason. It's often a convenient way
of making sure you cast your vote - particularly if you are likely
to be busy on polling day.
"Postal votes are usually sent out about a week before the day
of the election. Mark your votes on the ballot papers and follow
the instructions carefully about how to complete the declaration of
identity. Please make sure you send the envelope back so that it
arrives by 10pm on the day of the election. If it arrives later
than this, your vote won't be counted. If you forget to post it in
time, you can hand it in on the day of the election at any polling
station in Wyre Forest."
