ReWyre exhibition at Kidderminster Library highlights
improvements
To mark the first anniversary of the first ReWyre board meeting,
Kidderminster Library will host an exhibition showing completed
projects around the town over the last year. The exhibition will be
open until 30th April, in the Exhibition Gallery on the
top floor of Kidderminster Library.
ReWyre was launched in September 2009. The aim is to bring key
stakeholders and investors from the public and private sectors
together to combine their energies and resources to see the wider
potential for the town and deliver a bigger vision for change. The
initiative works towards delivering the long-term regeneration for
the town, including major potential redevelopment areas such as the
town's canal side areas and the former British Sugar site.
ReWyre also implements short-term, quick-win projects that make
an immediate impact on the town. It is these projects that are the
focus for this exhibition. These include public art projects such
as the Comberton Hill island subway and events like the canal
festival feature, as well as the work being done on the
Churchfields masterplan. The exhibition also features a giant map
of Kidderminster and asks people to locate their best and least
favourite places in the town.
Mark Moore, Chairman of the ReWyre Board said:
"The initial projects that are being displayed here are not only
helping to improve the town in the short-term but are also making a
real statement about the kind of place we want Kidderminster to be
in the future."
He continued:
"ReWyre is already proving that is able to deliver and support a
wide range of projects and is set to continue this good work. While
there has been a spotlight on short-term environmental
improvements, ReWyre will maintain its drive to deliver its medium
and long-term aims."
