Review of polling places in Wyre
Forest
A review of all polling districts and polling places in Wyre
Forest is being undertaken by the District Council.
The consultation period runs until 5th January 2011
and the Council is asking for feedback on any aspect of polling
districts and/or polling places currently used or suggestions for
alternative polling places. Details can be viewed on
our website or by going to the Council's Hub.
The aim of the consultation is to find out views on the
suitability and accessibility of the current polling places, such
as how easy electors found getting into the buildings or whether
polling places were easy to get to by car or public
transport. The Council would also like to know of any
suitable alternative venues for polling stations.
The consultation document includes information on the cost of
running each polling station in the May election and the cost per
vote cast at each polling station. It also makes proposals to cease
using some locations as polling places, for example because they do
not provide access for disabled people or on grounds of cost. In
such cases, it sets out proposals about where voters would be asked
to go instead if they wish to vote in person. All electors can
request a postal vote at any time if they cannot or do not wish to
go to a polling station.
Any elector within the local authority boundaries may respond to
the consultation paper and the Council also welcomes comments from
any person or body with expertise in access for persons with any
type of disability.
Any proposals for changes or suggestions on the existing
arrangements should be emailed to electoral
services or sent to the Electoral Services Officer by no
later than 5th January 2011. The final decisions on
changes will be taken by the District Council at its meeting in
February.
All submissions, relevant correspondence and Returning Officer's
comments relating to the review process will be made available for
public inspection.
