Civic Office Planning Application Approved
Designs for new Civic offices for Wyre Forest
District Council were approved by the Council’s planning committee
last night (9th November 2010).
The planning application outlined the siting,
design and external appearance, landscaping and access for the
development at Finepoint Way in Kidderminster.
The two storey building has two wings with a
central entrance, desk space for around 200 employees and staff and
visitor parking. There is also a provision for public art to
be displayed.
Councillor Marcus Hart, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member for Housing & Environmental Services
said
“We are pleased to have the green light to
take the project to the next stage. The new offices provide a high
quality design that will deliver considerable savings to the
taxpayer and a modern environment for employees.
“Moving to a single site is just one of the
projects which the Council is progressing in order to meet the
financial challenges we face.
“Sustainability measures have been a key
priority in the brief for this project and it is important that the
District Council lead by example on this issue. The measures
proposed and the ambition for BREEAM excellent rating follows the
Government’s guidance in respect of sustainability.
“The new Civic building will be a high quality
design that is suitably positioned within this prominent site.“
