Planning Appeal Decision in Churchill
As a result of an appeal decision, a family of
gypsies is required to remove all caravans, buildings and
associated works from land at Stakenbridge Lane Churchill near
Kidderminster.
In December 2009, Wyre Forest District Council
served an Enforcement Notice in respect of the unauthorised siting
of caravans and other structures on the land which is owned by the
appellant and is situated to the north of Churchill village, along
Stackenbridge Lane.
The Enforcement Notice was subsequently
appealed and the case heard before a planning Inspector in
September of this year. The case generated a significant
level of local opposition from local residents and Churchill and
Blakedown Parish Council.
Councillor Stephen Clee, Wyre Forest District
Council’s Cabinet Member for Planning & Economic Regeneration
said “We are pleased that the planning inspector has brought this
matter to a close. The issue has provoked much local concern and
has involved significant levels of officers' time and effort in
preparing the Council's planning case against the unauthorised
occupation of the land.
“The Inspector's decision has now been
received, with the Inspector finding in favour of the Council by
dismissing the appeal, thereby upholding the Enforcement Notice,
albeit with some amendments. The land must be cleared by 31 July
2011.”
